Steward & James has spent the past few years selling online, through wholesale partners and at shows. This fall, the Baton Rouge jewelry brand finally has a door you can walk through.

On Oct. 13, the company announced that its pop-up shop at Perkins Rowe is open, and it plans to stay through the end of the year. You'll find it at 10155 Perkins Rowe, Suite 180D, next to Altar'd State.

Six hundred styles, one price ceiling

The store puts more than 600 styles under one roof, and every piece is under $60. Expect necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings and brooches, including the new fall collection, Collected, plus the brand's game day favorites. The brand says everything is nickel free and designed in Baton Rouge. Its collections use 14K or 18K gold-plated stainless steel and brass.

The story behind the name

Steward & James was founded in 2020 by Ash, who writes on the brand's website that the idea took shape while she was studying apparel design at LSU. Clothes were the coursework, but accessories were what grabbed her. After college she worked in product development for clothing and accessories, a job that took her overseas to see production firsthand.

The brand is named after her two grandfathers, and many pieces are named for loved ones. Ash says customers began sending in their own stories of loss and illness, which led to the company's giving program, "Spreading Joy: Giving Back & Creating Memories." Through it, the brand reports donating thousands of dollars to causes.

When to stop by

The pop-up is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Can't make it to Perkins Rowe? The full lineup is online, with free shipping on orders over $100.

With holiday shopping right around the corner, a local brand selling everything under $60 is one stop worth putting on the list before it packs up in the new year.
