Looking for something fun to do in Baton Rouge this week? Whether you're ready for spooky season, planning a night out with friends, or looking for an excuse to try a new restaurant, the Capital City has plenty to get excited about.
October is bringing some of our favorite things together: fall festivities, local food, live entertainment, and the return of a Baton Rouge tradition we haven't seen since 2023.
From weekend adventures to midweek plans, here's what's worth adding to your calendar.
Kick Off the Weekend With Live Music
Thursday, October 15, brings Rock N Rowe to Perkins Rowe from 6–9 p.m., featuring Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band. The free outdoor concert is an easy way to get out, enjoy the evening, and spend time with friends.
On Friday, October 16, downtown Baton Rouge keeps the music going with Live After 5. The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. takes the stage from 5–8 p.m. at Davis S. Rhorer Plaza. Admission is free, and food trucks make it easy to turn the concert into a Friday night outing.
Get Into the Halloween Spirit
October wouldn't be complete without a few scares.
The 13th Gate is welcoming thrill-seekers back to downtown Baton Rouge, with its elaborate haunted environments and CarnEvil entertainment area. This weekend's CarnEvil live music lineup includes Blackwater Revival on Friday, October 16, and Joshua Magee & The Souls on Saturday, October 17.
For something a little more family-friendly, BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is hosting Swamp Haunted Hikes on Friday, October 16, from 6–9:10 p.m.
And for younger Halloween fans, Boo at the Zoo returns October 17–18 with seasonal activities at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo.
Cheer on the Tigers This Saturday
Saturday, October 17, means LSU football in Baton Rouge.
The Tigers take on Mississippi State at Tiger Stadium, bringing another weekend of tailgating, school spirit, and excitement around campus.
Whether you're heading into Death Valley or gathering with friends to watch the game, LSU football is always a reason to get out and enjoy Baton Rouge.
Make a day of it by supporting a local restaurant before or after the game.
Make Sunday a Family Day
Looking for something a little more relaxed?
On Sunday, October 18, Sundays in St. George returns to Highland Road Community Park from 2–6 p.m., featuring live music from Parish County Line.
The free event combines outdoor music, an arts market, local vendors, and food, making it a great option for families or anyone who wants to enjoy a Sunday afternoon outside.
Burger Week Is Finally Back!
Monday, October 19, marks the return of DIG Baton Rouge Burger Week, and we're making up for lost time!
After its last run in 2023, Burger Week is returning for 13 days of burgers, local restaurants, and plenty of reasons to eat your way around the Capital City.
From neighborhood favorites like Curbside and The Overpass Merchant to creative burger destinations like Wagyulicious, participating restaurants are getting ready to showcase what makes their menus special.
The best part? You don't have to be a dedicated burger restaurant to join the fun. This year's lineup brings together different cuisines, neighborhoods, and dining experiences for one citywide celebration.
Burger Week runs October 19–31, giving you plenty of opportunities to discover a new favorite while supporting Baton Rouge restaurants.

Roll Into the Week With a Sushi Class
If you're looking for something to do after the weekend, Soji Modern Asian has something planned for Wednesday, October 21.
The restaurant's Roll With Soji sushi class begins at 6 p.m., giving guests a hands-on opportunity to learn how to roll, slice, and plate sushi with guidance from the restaurant's chefs.
All ingredients and supplies are included, and guests get a sushi bundle to take home. With limited seating, reservations are recommended.
It's a fun option for a date night, a girls' night, or anyone who wants to learn something new while enjoying great food.
Make the Most of Baton Rouge This Week
Between free concerts, Halloween attractions, LSU football, family-friendly activities, and the long-awaited return of Burger Week, there's no shortage of reasons to get out this week.
Grab your friends, make some plans, and support the local businesses and events that keep Baton Rouge interesting.
And don't forget to follow DIG Baton Rouge for more restaurant discoveries, upcoming events, and things to do around the Capital Region.
