Some weeks need a plan. If yours could use one, The Overpass Merchant on Perkins Road has already mapped it out, one night at a time.
The roadside-themed bar and kitchen sits at 2904 Perkins Road, just off the overpass. It opens at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and stays open late, then switches to brunch on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
## The weekly lineup
Monday starts with chicken shawarma wraps, $6 frozen drinks (frozen margaritas right now) and trivia night.
Tuesday is for chicken fried chicken and $6 Camp Waters.
Wednesday brings $30 select bottles of wine plus a Chef's Burger Build.
Thursday is "Snack Palace" night, with $7 apps and $5 martinis.
## Happy hour, every weekday
From 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, domestic beers are $1 off, draft wines are half price and well drinks come as doubles for the price of a single. It's a smart way to ease out of the workday before traffic on Perkins thins out.
## What's in the glass
The signature cocktail list leans playful. The Frozen Merchant Margarita is $12, and you can add a Grand Marnier floater for $3 or take a half-gallon to go for $40. The Camp Water 2.0 mixes Tin Cup bourbon, Aperol, orange liqueur, honey and lemon. The Velvet Elvis espresso martini is made with oolong-infused nitro espresso. There's also a booze-free Juice Box Jam for $10.
Beer drinkers on a budget can grab a $4 tall boy of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Yuengling or Coors Original. Wine on draft rotates, so ask your server what's pouring.
## Before you go
Book a table through Resy or order online from the restaurant's website, and call 225-508-4737 with questions. The menu changes with the season, so check the Specials page before you head out.
Pick a night, bring a friend and let the overpass handle the rest.
