Craving a steaming bowl of pho on the first cool morning of November? Dang's on Florida Boulevard opens at 9:30 a.m., and the broth is already waiting.
## A Meal That Feels Like Home
The team behind Dang's says it calls Baton Rouge home for its culture, people and food, and the restaurant was built to give something back. The goal is simple: the comfort of a home-cooked meal with Vietnamese flavors drawn from home recipes. The kitchen keeps adding new dishes and works to accommodate diners with dietary restrictions.
## Soups for Sweater Weather
Pho starts at $12 and comes with bean sprouts, basil, cabbage, lime and jalapenos. Choose rare steak, brisket, meatballs, shrimp, tofu or the full combo with tripe. Hu tieu, the pork-broth noodle soup, comes with char siu pork, wontons or a seafood mix of shrimp, crab, squid and fish tofu. Spicy beef soup and chicken curry round out the list. Any noodle bowl can swap in zucchini noodles or mixed vegetables for $2.
## Beyond the Bowl
Banh mi start at $7, dressed with house mayo, pickled carrot, cucumber and cilantro. The crispy duck version brings bone-in duck on the side. Starters include fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, hand-rolled egg rolls, banh xeo crepes and steamed buns. There are also fish sauce wings and crispy salt-and-pepper squid.
Heartier plates include shaken beef over rice, vermicelli bowls topped with peanuts and sauteed onions, pad thai and a spicy sate combo of beef, shrimp and squid.
## Sip Something Sweet
The drink list covers Vietnamese coffee hot or iced with milk, plus milk teas in flavors like taro coconut, honeydew and Thai tea. You'll also find fruity teas in lychee and passion fruit, salted limeade and fresh coconut juice.
