Date night in Baton Rouge has a new steakhouse option. Emeril's Chop House opened Sept. 24 inside L'Auberge Casino Hotel Baton Rouge, and the casino is billing it as Louisiana's premier fine-dining destination.
Steaks first
As the name promises, beef runs the show. According to L'Auberge, every steak is Black Angus, Creole seasoned, charbroiled and finished with maître d' butter. The lineup ranges from a 9-ounce filet mignon ($72) to a 20-ounce bone-in ribeye ($95), with a 10-ounce domestic Mashima Wagyu ribeye and a 6-ounce Australian Black Opal Wagyu strip for anyone celebrating something big. Add-ons include Oscar style, au poivre and a petite butter-roasted lobster tail.
A strong Louisiana accent
The rest of the menu leans local. Starters include Emeril's BBQ Shrimp with a petite rosemary biscuit, a pan-fried crabcake with comeback sauce, and thick-cut apple-cured bacon glazed with Abita Root Beer syrup. Chicken and andouille gumbo comes with Louisiana Jazzman rice, and the wilted spinach salad gets a warm andouille vinaigrette.
Seafood fans can go for Gulf fish amandine with Creole meunière, Gulf yellowfin tuna Oscar or a shellfish platter piled with oysters, Creole-boiled shrimp, poached lobster and king crab. Sides worth sharing include lobster mac and cheese and creamed spinach.
Save room for Emeril's banana cream pie, or finish with a chicory coffee or an espresso martini made with Hoodoo chicory liqueur.
Hours and reservations
Dinner is served daily from 5 to 10 p.m. The bar opens at 4 p.m. every day and stays open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations can be made through L'Auberge's website, and the restaurant is at 777 L'Auberge Ave.
