Baton Rouge already knows heat. LIVIN Studio is betting you'll pay to work out in it on purpose.
The new studio at 3636 Nicholson Drive sits close enough to LSU that it hands out game-day parking passes. It was founded by Layla Kiffin. It's built around infrared-heated group classes, plus private red light lounges for recovery afterward.
Inside the hot room
Every signature class runs 50 minutes in a room kept between 105 and 108 degrees with 30% to 40% humidity. The studio says all levels are welcome, from first-timers to longtime athletes.
There are three formats. Strength is a heavy-weight class focused on building muscle without cardio. Sculpt mixes strength and cardio to get your heart rate up. Flow is the yoga option, a stretch- and breath-centered class that the studio is quick to point out is still a full-body workout. Arrive early and bring water.
After class, you can book a 30-minute session in a private red light lounge. LIVIN says the sessions support muscle recovery and circulation.
What it costs
A single drop-in class is $35, and a happy hour class is $26 at times that offer it. Class packs run $109 for four or $189 for eight, both used within 30 days. An annual unlimited membership is $249 a month, though the first 100 founding members lock in $209. Students with a valid ID pay $169 a month on an annual plan, and LSU students can freeze over winter break for free. A red light drop-in is $30.
Hours and parking
The studio is open 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Park in the lot behind the building or on the top two levels of the Nicholson garage. On home-game Saturdays, when the area requires a special pass, the studio provides one for every member and guest coming to class.
If you've been looking for a workout that feels different, this one comes with its own forecast.
