Baton Rouge gardeners know the real planting season starts when the heat finally breaks. Plant Tech, the family-owned nursery on Jefferson Highway, has its 2026 fall color catalog posted, and it reads like a shopping list for cool-weather beds.

## What's in the Fall Catalog

The catalog leans hard on the classics that carry Louisiana yards through winter. Pansies come in two styles: Matrix, which the nursery notes has its largest blooms at roughly 3.5 inches, and Cool Wave, a spreading variety with smaller flowers. Panola, a cross between a pansy and a viola, and Penny and Sorbet violas round out the low-growing options.

For height, there are snapdragons in three series, including Sweet Duet with fully double, ruffled, fragrant blooms. Foxglove keeps green foliage through winter before sending up tall spikes in early spring, and columbine does the same.

Ornamental kale adds bold texture in Redbor, Peacock, Osaka and Kamome varieties. Dianthus shows up in several series, along with alyssum, dusty miller, nemesia, lamium, verbena, marigolds and a few petunias, including the cascading Supertunia line.

## Grown Close to Home

Plant Tech says it grows its own seasonal plants, restocks inventory every week and can special-order a specific plant if you're hunting for something. The nursery has been around for more than 20 years and is locally owned and operated.

## More Than a Garden Center

Beyond retail, the team handles landscape design and installation, irrigation and drainage, landscape lighting, pool design, and arbor, deck and patio projects. If a fall refresh is turning into a bigger backyard plan, it's all under one roof.

## Plan Your Visit

Plant Tech is at 15323 Jefferson Highway. The catalog is available on the nursery's website, and orders can be placed by calling 225-753-1765 or emailing [email protected]. Availability changes as the season moves along, so call ahead for current stock and hours. Get those pansies in the ground now and they'll be smiling back at you well past Mardi Gras.
