In Louisiana, your parrain is your godfather, the one who shows up with something good. On Perkins Road, Parrain's Seafood has been playing that role for Mid City diners since September 2001.

That makes 2026 the restaurant's 25th year, a quarter century of plates heading out of the kitchen with a simple goal the restaurant still states plainly: bring Baton Rouge the freshest, highest-quality seafood in town.

A menu built on the Gulf and the bayou

Parrain's splits its kitchen into a few clear lanes. Seafood is the headliner. The turf side covers traditional Cajun and Southern dishes, and the bar pours a wide variety of wine and beer along with original cocktails. The menu runs from appetizers, salads and po'boys to entrees, sides, house specialties and desserts, and everything is prepared fresh to order.

Regulars also know to ask about the specials. Parrain's runs daily lunch and dinner specials, and on Sundays it adds select brunch items to the lineup, which makes it an easy call for a lazy weekend meal with family in town.

Holiday help

With Thanksgiving and the holiday party season coming, Parrain's offers catering. Online ordering is set up for nights when you would rather eat at home. Gift cards are sold through the secure site of its sister restaurant, The Chimes, so a Parrain's meal can go into a stocking just as easily as a Chimes one.

Plan your visit

Parrain's Seafood is at 3225 Perkins Road in the heart of Mid City. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Call 225-381-9922 for questions about catering or specials.

Twenty-five years in, Parrain's is still the friend who brings the good stuff to the table. Pull up a chair and order something from the Gulf.
