I ate at Bullfish Bistro for the first time last night during Restaurant Week, and I genuinely cannot figure out how they don’t have a line out the door every single night. This is one of those restaurants you try once and immediately wonder how it took you so long to get there.

I started with the Soup Joumou, a traditional Haitian pumpkin soup simmered with vegetables and warm spices. The owner, Jasmine, shared that the soup is made entirely from root vegetables and is completely vegan. From the very first spoonful, it was clear how much depth and care goes into this dish. It was comforting, hearty, and packed with flavor in a way that sneaks up on you. She also casually mentioned what might be the most useful cultural tradition I’ve learned all year: if you had a little too much to drink the night before, this soup is said to cure you. After tasting it, I’m not here to argue.

For my next course, I went with the Creole Crown Snapper. The blackened red snapper filet was cooked perfectly and finished with a creamy crawfish sauce, served over buttered spaghetti. My server told me it was his favorite dish on the menu, and it was easy to see why. The fish was seasoned just right, and the sauce brought a little heat with a subtle Caribbean influence, balanced beautifully with a Cajun flair.

I was patiently waiting for the final course because it was officially sweet treat time. The Midnight Fudge Brownie was the perfect ending to an amazing dinner. Warm, dense, and unapologetically chocolate forward, it came topped with vanilla bean ice cream and hit every indulgent note it needed to.

On top of the food, Bullfish Bistro has an impressive drink menu and a strong Restaurant Week selection that really shows off what they do best. At this point, all they’re waiting for is you. Don’t be like me. I waited way too long to give them a try, and they are officially going into my rotation of go to restaurants.
